Dear Friends,
I just wanted to wish you all a happy new year! I hope you enjoyed your holidays too.
I’m looking forward to lots of cool stuff in 2023. Lately, I’ve been traveling a bunch and just played my first show in a while, opening for Ben Barnes. The show sold out in under 2 hours, and it was one of my favorite performances ever. I also started playing in his band, which has been a total blast. (If you live in LA or NYC, keep on the lookout for some shows in February.) I also put my face over my siblings’ for the 10th Christmas in a row.
In December, I played a close friend’s wedding in Mexico, went back to New York for the holidays, and spent New Year’s Eve in Vail and Vegas, playing lots of music all the way. I couldn’t be more thrilled to spend January in LA.
Besides that, I’ll be doing some shows and releasing some more music of my own! Promise!
My favorite part about these letters is exchanging recommendations for music, books, movies, etc.
Right now, I’m deep in a Springsteen phase. I listened to his interview with Howard. I can’t believe all that wisdom is in one guy. “Growin’ Up” has been my go-to track.
I also listened to a bunch of John Denver driving through Colorado, which made me teary. I kept thinking––this country is beautiful, I have the best friends in the world, and why is life moving so goddamn fast?
I just finished reading a biography of Leonard Bernstein by Barry Seldes. It’s probably the seventh or eighth Bernstein book I’ve taken down in the last few years. I just can’t imagine a more interesting person to read about.
Related: Tár is the movie of the decade.
As always, feel free to write back! I love hearing what’s exciting you.
Wishing you all a healthy and happy 2023.
